Glassblowing

While staying at Maho Bay, I had the pleasure of taking a glassblowing class. Glassblown art is everywhere around the island, so I thought why not make it instead of buy it since they offered a class. It was so much fun but hard--definitely a skill that takes practice. I think my pieces turned out alright, but my instructor Jared helped me out a lot. If it wasn't for him (he's been blowing glass for 16 yrs) my pieces would of been blobs. And was really hot in the studio!

Here's me in action:

And here's my completed pieces. I made a little "Barbie-colored" starfish for Stella and a hanging ornament for my dear mother-in-law who watch my kids while I was gone (not to mention that she got sick while doing so.) The picture was taken in Maho Bay's art gallery. Oh, and my arms are so shiny because I doust myself in my daily perfume--insect repellant.

That looks like it was a fun class. Your pieces look great! How did Stella like her starfish?

I still talk about that class to people. That was the best and I want to take a refresher course.

Hey Darleen,
I LOVE your blog! It is so fun to see what you have been up to! Looks like you had a fantastic trip to St. John! That is so fun that you and Seth were able to sneak away for a while without the kids! Keep in touch! Debbie
