PBS Special
Check out PBS 4-hour special on "The Mormons". Two-hours of it airs tonight and the rest airs tomorrow night. It's a documentary that explores the history and current reality of the Mormons. I'm hoping it portrays Mormons in a good light and clarifies alot of misunderstood hearsay.

Beds + Benches
Okay, I have to blog about Domino's May issue. I get so excited when it arrives in my mailbox, so I have to share. They have an decorating article regarding beds and benches, and the below image has my favorite bench from Wisteria. I have been in love with these inlaid bone benches for a really long time--I even saved up for one. At the time they were priced for $300 so when I went to make my purchase, the price jumped to $549. I was so sad, and then I thought it wasn't worth it. I hate it when companies do that once they become big and popular! Anyway, I still love the bench, and doesn't it look so darling at a foot of a bed?

Laundry Camp
Domino's May issue had an article on laundry tips from the owners of The Laundress. There's a lot of good information of how to keep your clothes looking new--alot that I had no idea about. One tip was skip the bleach (which I use frequently on my whites) because over time it makes fabrics yellow and eats away the fiber. They say brighten whites by soaking them in hot water and white vinegar for at least a half hour.

Another tip they say is to "sort of" ignore the 'dry clean only' tag--it's a way for manufacturers to protect themselves. The Laundress says that unless it's a suit jacket or rayon, you can hand-wash anything--silk, cashmere, polyester. Wow--that's going to save me a ton of money!
Anyway, the below image has more secret cleaning tips. I especially like #2 regarding your husband's dress shirts--another good way to save money!

Moody Kitchen
This is such a pretty kitchen to me. The striking black chandelier and the moody blue cupboards complement each other--very different and unique. But do you know what I like the best? The children's artwork on the refrigerator. It has inspired me to do the same.

Shoe Knockoff
I must admit I love shoes, and my friends Katie and Carla, who were just in town, can attest to that. As we shopped around the city I was on the hunt for some cute silver flats because they are super hot trend this summer and they just look so cute. Anyway I saw a ton of these Sigerson Morrison flipflops, which I love but not going to pay the $230.00 price tag. But of course my good 'ol company Nine West knocks it off for only $59.00.

Cool Dining Chairs
I love these dining chairs--they're modern and different. I especially like them in the green finish, but you can also get them in blue, brown, white or black. I'm sad that they won't work with my decor though, but they're fun to look at.

Sunday Walk on the Beach
The weather has warmed up (for a short time), so we decided take our Sunday walk on the beach. We definitely enjoy living close to the ocean and aren't excited for the rain to come back. Stella loves to play in the sand, and Lucas enjoys eating the sand.

Fireplace Remodel
So, this year we have decided to remodel our fireplace--one of the many items on our "house to-do" list (remember we live in a 1925 house). Our brick fireplace was a huge eye soar, and the first thing you saw when you enter into the house. The previous owners thought the fireplace would look better by painting the brick red so it would look more like a brick. I definitely didn't think it looked very attractive; however, I never saw what it looked like before. Anyway, our fireplace is completed and it looks awesome! It definitely makes our living room so much better and alive! We had to get it custom made because it's such a large shape, but I was able to design it how I wanted it. And I had the builder put in built-in shelves so I could hide all our annoying toys.
Here is the BEFORE: (notice the toys and the hideous gold blacken screen)
And the AFTER: (toys are hidden in the cupboard. We used marble around the fireplace opening and the bottom. I was surprise that the marble only cost us $70!)
Now I need inspirations for fireplace mantel decor....any suggestions?.....Heidi?
Mt. Hood Recap
I wanted to post pictures of Seth's adventure up the Hood. I'm so glad he got home safe especially after hearing about how sketchy the climb was. Look how vertical the climb is! Yikes. But I guess Seth and Eric learned a few things and are now ready to climb the bull dog--Mt. Rainier. And yes, those are clouds not snow.

Spring Line at Target
The new spring line at Target for designers Victoria Hagan and Thomas O'Brien will be available to purchase April 22nd--so head on down to your local store. Or you can pre-order items on Target's website. I love the apple green accent colors in Victoria Hagan's line. Don't you just love Target?

Las Vegas Home Design Article
My really close girlfriend Ashley and friend Charlene will be featured in Las Vegas Home & Design magazine May/June issue--pick up an issue if you are in the area. Ashley makes really darling knit baby and adult hats, and was the one who made "scarf hats" cute, trendy and popular. My family wears her hats all the time. Charlene makes tie baby blankets in fun colorful fabrics that can secure to your stroller, car seat or baby bjorn. The blankets are especially great with newborns--you can hide their sleepy faces from poking strangers especially at the grocery store! Anyways I'm so excited for them! We all do a lot of shows together so next time we have one, come and bring a friend. Oh, and did you notice the fabulous jewelry they are wearing? Click on the image. You can buy them here.

Brocade Home
I'm so excited! You can now shop online at Brocade Home. For those of you who don't know about this great furniture store it just opened last year and is owned by Restoration Hardware. The style is very feminine, romantic with a vintage feel and very reasonably priced. Previously you could only order through their catalog, and there are no stores YET because they are still so new. I love their hand-carved curved back chair in the peony. It would look so great in a bedroom.

TV Zombies
Sometimes I love to watch my kids' face expressions when they watch the tube. They always start out with the TV stare, and then once in a while, they will break out into a laugh when something funny comes on.

Nieces
My Mom sent me this really darling picture of some of my nieces. They all live in Vegas and get to play with each other every week. I'm so sad that Stella isn't part of the Vegas cousin clan. She is just a few months older, and they were all born within a year of each other. I haven't seen them in a while, so I was surprised how much they have grown.

My Favorite Designer
I love interior designer Ruthie Sommers. She is my ultimate favorite. I get so inspired by her. She uses color but doesn't over do it and mixes classic with glamour. If I had a large house and lots of money, I would hunt her down and hire her. She has a book coming out this fall called The L.A. House. Her house is featured in Instyle Home and she is one of Domino's favorite.

Makeup Ad for Moms
I like Sephora's Mother's Day ad campaign. It's a creative way to put makeup and the celebration of Mom's many talents together. Also, if you go to Sephora, they have a link to Airplane-approve beauty products.
