Montana

This holiday weekend, I'm heading out to a small town in Montana with me, myself and I for a small family wedding for my close girlfriend. So have a happy and safe Labor day weekend! And please include Seth in your prayers since this will be his first weekend alone with the kids. :)

Baby Kneepads

Lucas needs these--desperately! Kneepads to protect from the hard surface. However, he's been pretty good at avoiding to much knee scraping. He does the gorilla crawl--up on all fours. But I hope in the next couple weeks, he'll be walking.

Dessert Fondue

Yummm....this dessert buffet has quite the variety of dipping options. Ever since Seth and I went to one of his corporate dinners and they had a dessert fondue buffet similar to the one below, I have wanted to revisit that night of sweet surrender. I am wishing one day to throw a fondue party. But it keeps being pushed aside.

Celebrity Sighting

I forgot to tell you that I saw this actress at the airport when I was flying out to Vegas. I'm happy to say we made eye contact. No, I was not star struck. But I really liked the pair of skinny jeans she was wearing.

Fresh Palette

Love the simple look of this room. And the girl standing on the sofa to reach a book--such a child-like act.

Cars and Balls

These are Lucas's current favorite things--cars and balls. Well, anything that moves. If we walk into a room or go to the playground and he spots one of these items, he is practically jumping out of my arms to play with it. And I love the little sounds he makes when he plays with them. Beep, beep and burrrrrr for the cars. And bau, bau, bau for the balls. His new thing he says when he sees other people playing any type of ball sport is b-bau. He is trying to say baseball and he says it even when people are playing tennis. It's pretty funny.

Chasing Fireflies

I just got the best children's catalog in the mail today--Chasing Fireflies. Am I the last to discover this enchanting store?? Wow, I already have a list of favorites for my kids. The clothing are just so fun and artsy. And there are a lot of darling toys and gifts. Sidenote: I really like how they style the little girl models' hair. I may have to steal some of their ideas.

Kid's Sun Tent

How great is this sun tent? I wished I created an outdoor imaginary place for Stella--now summer is almost gone. I'm sure we'd have a picnic out there everyday.

Dress Form

I really like this dress form. I think it would be perfect as a display for my jewelry--load it up with lots of varying necklace lengths or lots of hanging earrings.

Happy Birthday Steve!

Happy Birthday to my father-in-law! Here's some fun stats about him: his family is his prize possession, he loves the outdoors (fishing, hiking, horseback riding, backcountry camping), he's taught his boys to work with their hands (building, fixing and making things) while emphasizing the importance of education and reading, he is a really good storyteller, he likes politics and is up on worldly events, he continues to educate himself, he plays a mean game of Trivial Pursuit and he loves to hang out with his best friend and wife. Happy Birthday!

Training Race

I ran a 15K (9.3 miles) this weekend, and noticed the runner's website posted a picture of me in their gallery. I ran the race in 1:13. I feel like I could of done better since my iPod (my motivation) quit working half way through the race. But it was good race, lots of hills. I look exhausted.

Bathroom Inspiration

I'm hoping that sometime next year we start on renovating our upside's "family" bathroom. It's in desperate need of some TLC. So, I'm starting my bathroom inspiration folder. And this is the first one to go in. Some things I like: the dark teal color on the walls, the paneled wainscoting, the built-in medicine cabinets, the faucets and lighting fixtures.

Red Piano

This couple bought this piano for $100 and painted it a fun red color. It's beautiful. I wonder if it's in tune and if they play it. One day I want to have an upright piano, since I'm planning on all my kids to take piano lessons (whether they like it or not!). I want my house to be full of music.

Gwen-y

I'm a fan of Gwen. I do listen to her music. I like how she's got 80's style in her music. She's on the cover of Instyle this month, and I think she looks fabulous. And I'm liking her clothing line L.A.M.B. more and more.

Bee Sting

My poor little Lucas got stung by a bee today at the playground. He just crawled on over to the bee and picked it up--OUCH! I was so surprised that he only cried for a little bit, and was brave and calm while my friend Alison pulled the stinger out of his little hand and cleaned his boo-boo up. Thankgoodness there was no allergic reaction only swelling. Sorry, I forgot to take a picture of my little guy and his swollen hand, but here's a pretty picture of a bee.

Billy's Cupcakes

Next stop when I'm in the city--Billy's Bakery. I've heard too much ranting and raving, and I've even heard their cupcakes are better than Magnolia. That's a hard one to achieve. Anyway, I found the recipe for Billy's Vanilla, Vanilla Cupcakes with Vanilla Buttercream on this site. They are supposedly to "die for". Perhaps, I will use this recipe for Stella's upcoming birthday.

Nectarines

I bought a huge case of nectarines at Costco--we've been enjoying the last bits of summer's fruit. I think I will make this recipe tomorrow for my mid-morning snack.

Wishing...

I wish I could throw a lunch party like this at the beach...

Big Cupcake

Look at this big cupcake my sister made for my niece's 2nd birthday. Yum, yum. And she had the right idea--just start eating. No fork or spoon. The two other little girls joined in, each eating their side. I love the pink, purple and orange sprinkles.

A Day in My Life--8/17/07

My friend Natalie's cousin-in-law Tiburon had an idea to document a day in your life. I took up the challenge, but it was a lot harder than I thought. Taking pictures of every activity that I perform in the day is a LOT. But I did manage to take a few pictures of the activities that we don't always do everyday. So, I didn't document the usually things like getting up, eating, getting dressed, diaper changes, playing, checking email/blogs, making dinner, etc. Unfortunately, the day to document was a very uneventful day--a day I had to "work" and clean. So, I'll have to do this challenge again with a little more effort.

Oh, I didn't upgrade to the premium package, so here's my captions for each photo:

1st photo: First off in the morning--headed to the gym and took a weight's class
2nd photo: After the gym, we stopped by the post office to mail off jewelry orders
3rd photo: Cleaned the bathrooms and tiolets with Stella's little help
4th photo: Two loads of laundry today
5th photo: Preschool work before Stella heads off to naptime
6th photo: Cut some flowers before they all die off
7th photo: Naptime! My time to work--ordered jewelry supplies and worked on compassionate service church calling. Lots of phone calls.
8th photo: Kids are up from nap--time to vacuum the entire house
9th photo: Bedtime! House is cleaned, now it's back to work completing jewelry orders

Playtime Tutus

How darling are these tutus? Very, I must say. And these aren't like the cheap ones, but are instead luscious and full...and reversible. You flip the tutu over and it's a whole new color. How fun is dress up now?

Puff-sleeves Dress

I really like this dress. Add a belt--it would look adorable.

Dancing in the Park

Our Wednesday evening activity in the summer is go to Waveny Park for their concert series. And we all dance--like crazy folks. It's great fun.

A Sea of Shoes!

Holy mackerel! Look at all those shoes! I wonder if she's ever worn one more than once. Great fashionista quote.

Sunburst

This sunburst mirror is a little showstopper. I think it would be fun to hang in a playroom or a kid's bedroom.

Wooden Bowls

I really like all of Pottery Barn's new wooden accessories. I got a wooden bowl similar to the one on the bottom from a tag sale--only $5. And the big bowl on the left would look great in a bathroom with towels stacked up in it or on a coffee table with a few white orchids. And the right one is just divine!

Hooter Hider

Well, I'm probably the last to find out about hooter hiders. My sister Marleen was telling me about it, so I had to check it out. Basically, it's a stylish nursing cover. I wish I had this when I was nursing especially since Lucas hated the blanket right on his face. I guess these hiders provide a little airway to the baby, which is nice. They've got some really cute fabrics too.

Lighthouse Point

Last week we went to this really cool beach park called Lighthouse Point with some friends. Not only was there a fun beach, but there were lighthouses, splash pad, playground and a carousel that's been around since the 1920s. We had so much fun that we ended up going back with Seth. Oh, I'm sad that summer is quickly passing by.

I told them to kiss not lick each other! Cool pic of the carousel
Stella looks frightened, but she actually loved it!

Next Season

I have to admit that I don't watch a lot of TV (only when I'm feeding a baby). But I do like reality TV, and when I start a show I get sucked in. So, my one show that I like to watch and am embarrassed to say (especially since I've been watching it since the first season of Laguna Beach) and my husband continually makes fun of (yes, I know that it is so stupid, fake and just plain stupid, and I am not a teenager anymore) is The Hills. Yes, I have it marked on my calendar for the next season and will make myself available to watch.

Layering

Free People has some fun ways to layer your clothes for Fall and not to mention some really cute clothes too. A little something to look forward to...
