For the three-day weekend, we decided to pack up the car, with lots and lots of camping gear, and drove up to
Lake George, located in upstate New York. Seth and I couldn't believe how much "stuff" we had manage to stuff in our car for our short weekend trip. We camped near one of the many little lakes in the Adirondack region. The kiddies had fun cooking hot dogs, roasting marshmellows and throwing rocks in the lake. We did a couple of different hikes--one up to a very secluded beautiful lake and another up to a cliff that overlooked five different lakes. The flying bugs were annoying and nasty. Sleeping in a tent with my kids was difficult--I learned that Lucas snores and sucks his thumb really loud. Stella whimpered because she was cold and ended up with me in my sleeping bag. Besides the nighttime chaos, it was a fun trip. And I do think I would one day want one of those little cabin shacks on a lake so I can enjoy the scenery every year.

On the menu for breakfast: oatmeal

what cool parents you guys are! i'm not brave enough to camp with mine yet...
You guys are awesome. I really couldn't sleep in a tent with all my boys. No one would get any sleep. So glad you were able to get away for the weekend!
Camping with kids...you are a braver woman than I am!
You are so awesome! I love how you guys do the stuff you do. (Our kids are the same way during the night part.)

Codye is horrible at staying in touch, but loves to know what's going on with his boys!
You are adorable. Seriously. So dang cute. I wish we lived by you so we could be friends. (I feel the same way about biking everywhere. Only, I have a bike trailer for the little rascals. Our house is just up too many hills!)
Oh, what a beautiful place. Sounds like tons of fun - I'm sure the kiddoes will remember it!
I SO need some mountains and water right now. That looks just beautiful.

Looks like fun! Camping is such a challenge with kids but totally worth the memories made. Our kids love it and constantly ask when they get to go on another campout.
