Westchester House

Jonathan Alder's latest project: Liz Lange's Westchester home as featured in House Beautiful. One of my favorite things he did was paint the wood floors white.

PS Collection

A few new Ikea products that I like that aren't yet available in the states. Hopefully one day they will be.

6 Months

My baby is six months! Here are some of his stats and milestones:
  • his stats are: 17 lbs 4 oz, 27" long, 43 1/2 cm head
  • I just introduced solids, and he is slowly getting the eating food thing down. But seems to have no problem when he sits on my lap during dinnertime. There's something about the food on mommy's plate.
  • he can roll over really well from back to belly. He seems to get stuck on his belly.
  • he finally got sick for the first time a couple of weeks ago. No sickness during the entire winter months with school kids around and gym daycare! I thank breast milk for that.
  • he still loves his thumb and is now getting attached to a blankie
  • he has found his feet and loves to chew on them
  • he is a very mellow child and just goes with the flow
  • plop him in front of Stella and Lucas for some entertainment, and he is good to go for a while.

Memorial Weekend

We headed up to the Berkshires--one of our favorite quick vacation spots. I think this has been the fourth year we've visited. It's a perfect place to escape to the outdoors, and the scenery is breathtaking--very New England. One day our goal was to see as many waterfalls as possible. With the driving and hiking, we were able to see three waterfalls. The favorite part of the vacation for the kids: swimming at the hotel. And I found a tick burrowing in my leg. That was not pleasant.

Flower Headband

For our family activity this week we made flower headbands. Before we made the headbands, we talked about how each flower is unique and different and no two are alike. I related it to people, and how each person is beautiful and we should not make fun of or judge for how they are because we are all different. We assembled the flowers on headbands because everyone is royal--kings and queens. We actually called the headbands--flower crowns. Of course Lucas needed a crown too, so his was made out of leaves. I think the point got across. Stella's been informing me when a schoolmate says something unkind about another child. Can't believe that already happens in preschool.

Cargo Bikes

I remember when the gas prices rose so ridiculously high I wanted to ban my car and ride my bike everywhere. A little hard with three kids. But a-ha! Here's my answer. I so, So want one of these Madsen cargo bikes. No, actually I *need* one of these bikes.

Curtains

I tackled one of my sewing projects: making gender-neutral curtains for the children's bedroom. I found a wood grain fabric at Purl by Joel Dewberry that I loved. I did a simple curtain design--no fanciness. I'm liking the results and how all the colors are tying in.

Wisteria

I'm lovin' the new products over at Wisteria--white furniture pieces paired with bright pillows. This is my favorite loveseat.

One-Piece

I'm not much into one-pieces--doesn't look flattering on my boyish figure, but Anthropologie some really cute swimsuits. I might have to revisit that issue.

Dance Recital

Stella's dance recital was this weekend. When she came on stage, we had beaming smiles on our faces as we juggled the video and photo cameras. She danced to sleeping beauty and was so graceful. You wouldn't have known that an hour before she had a fever and down with the croup. Despite her sickess, she really wanted to go perform. And I encourage it. With the amount of money that went out for this dance recital, I was determined to get her out on stage. So with a little help of motrin, she was back on her feet--for the time being. The dance recital turned out good. But once Stella got off the stage, she was trashed and tired and sick. I've been nursing her back to health, along with Lucas now and me. Yup, I got sick too. I guess it serves me right since I encouraged her to dance while under the weather. But isn't she a pretty ballerina?

Model Pictures

I received the images from the photoshoot and am so happy with the results. They all came out beautifully. It's hard to narrow down. But I already put up a few on the site. Here are some other favorites. Julie took beautiful pictures--she did an awesome job as well as Vanessa. Thanks girls!

Bird Cage

Beautiful blue bird cage. Perfect prop for a wedding. But of course you must include the white doves.

Pop-Up Cards

Artecnica has darling pop-up greeting cards and paper goods. More like little works of art.

Flower Branches

Note to self: go to farmer's market and pick up tall flower branches for the large green vase sitting on the console table.

Motherhood

Mother's day was simple and sweet. And spent hanging out with my kids--who are my pride and joy. I got to nibble on them all especially the new little guy. The favorite part of the day was receiving a love letter from my honey about his love and appreciation toward me and favorite past memories. I'll cherish it forever.

From the Garden

I have a little flower garden that puts a smile on my face when I see the pops of color. This year I've been enjoying the flowers not only outside but inside. I've been going outside with scissors in hand at least once a week and cutting flowers to make arrangements around the house in vases. And my liliac tree is in bloom. Sweet fragrance. My favorite.

And our bleeding heart plant has bloomed. I planted this last year--no flower. But they came out this year. One of my favorite flowers.

Watercolor Cards

We pulled out the watercolors, and Stella and Lucas painted pictures on white cardstock. I cut the paper down to be folded and fit in an envelope. We'll be using the handpainted cards to send to the grandmas for Mother's Day.

Paper Botanicals

I haven't been down to Herald Square in a while, but I wish I took the time to stop by Macy's Flower Show in April. Eloise Corr Danch did an amazing job on all the paper botanical for Macy's window displays--garlands made with more than 2,500 handmade paper flowers and 20 ornate headdresses.

Man on Wire

Have you seen this documentary? We watched it last night and really enjoyed the suspense of how they pulled it off. And when he walked on the wire, it was just so be-autiful.

Baby Paper

Have you heard about baby paper? Well, Jackson got a gift of baby paper and loves, loves, loves it. It must be all the crinkling sounds. He is very attached.

Photoshoot

Last week was a photoshoot for new model poses and marketing material. The location was amazing, and the model Vanessa has these amazing blue eyes that bring out the colors in some of the jewelry pieces. Miss Julie worked her magic capturing poses. She always does an awesome job. Can't wait to see the end result.
