Pink+Green+White Baby Shower

A few weeks ago I was in charge of the decorations for my girlfriend's baby shower.  We decided to keep everything pretty simple because my friend's home (where the baby shower was located) is just so beautiful that we didn't want to take anything away from it's beauty.
Pink, white and a touch of green were the colors.  Pom-poms and white lanterns are really easy to decorate a room.  I know pom poms are SO yesterday, but putting a ton of them together with white lanterns updates the look, right?

For dessert we did cupcakes, raspberry tartlets, brownies and chocolate-covered strawberries. Simple and nothing too much.

I had this flower garland from Stella's 3-year-old princess birthday party and kept it.  Over four years ago!  Finally got to pull it out of storage.  I hung it from the fireplace and between the columns.

How gorgeous is that kitchen!!  Love!

Backyard Picnic

We are on the second week of our inside house getting painted.  A fresh coat of paint is so nice.  Everything looks clean and new!  The last two days they been painting the kitchen and dining rooms, so 6:30 dinner has been a little tricky.  But the weather has been so warm and gorgeous that a backyard picnic was a must.  A little change to the daily routine is a good thing, right?  The food was all very simple with little cooking--mostly finger foods.  Dinner lasted about 7 minutes. Clean up took about 10 minutes.  Quickest dinner/clean up I've ever done.  And the kids thought it was the best dinner they had ever had.

St. Pattys

Lucas's teacher challenged him to capture a leprechaun and bring him to school for show & tell.  Well, he definitely took that challenge serious and with the help of his older sister they worked really hard on making a leprechaun trap with fake gold.  So, the night before St. Patrick's Day they set up the "leprechaun hotel" trap in hopes to capture their leprechaun.  The next morning, they raced outside to see...that their leprechaun had not appeared and the hotel was untouched.  All day long they were waiting and waiting and then they were getting really annoyed and then mad that the leprechaun had forgotten them.  But atlas, when they least expected it, Larry the Leprechaun did appear and created quite the mess with the hotel, scattering the fake gold and leaving chocolate gold coins, Lucky Charms and a note that said "better luck next year". I have a feeling we will be making more leprechaun traps in the future.

We also painted garden pots the color of the rainbow.  Then planted wheat grass in it for a celebration of spring.

Colorful Front Door

My neighbor just painted their front door a Robin's egg blue, and I love driving past their house because it looks so cheerful.  The front door seems to introduce the world to the people inside.  I think if you are daring enough to paint your front door different from the classic green, red and black, you home should have neutral siding so colors don't become overwhelming.

PEZ

During my children's winter break, we went and checked out the PEZ factory to see exactly how the iconic candy is packaged.  It was pretty cool seeing how the candy has evolved over time, beginning in the 1927 as just a peppermint in Germany and then becoming apart of American pop culture.  The first character dispenser was Popeye in 1950.  My older two have started a Pez collection--I'm definitely going to keep it undercontrol though.  We don't need boxes of empty Pez dispensers.

Photoshoot + Friendship Bracelets

I've been getting some of the model images back from a recent photoshoot for my new Spring/Summer collection.  The images are SO beautiful and I'm really happy with the results.  The lovely model is my niece Ella, who is just so gorgeous and a natural at being photographed.  I'm so happy she agreed to model my pieces.  And I'm really excited to collaberate with Ellie Asher Photography.  Shelley, who is the one behind the camera, really brought all the piece alive and has a great sense of fashion photography.  I can't wait to see the rest of the images!

Here Ella is modeling my new friendship bracelets--the Wrap It and Friendship.  They are up on my Etsy shop.  My website is still getting a facelift so nothing has been updated yet.  I'm hoping we wrap it up every soon!

Check out my Facebook fan page to see more images from the shoot!  And will you please "like" my page?  I just put the page together this week so it needs some friends.  Kisses to you!

Square App

I recently discovered the Square app for my iphone and have been using quite a bit for my business.  Have you heard of the app?   It allows you to accept credit cards from your iphone or ipad anywhere.  Good news--it's free.  Perfect for small businesses or hairdressers, crafters, etc.  You just type in the amount, swipe the card with the card reader and automatically goes to your account.  So far it's been really good for me when customers want to pay with credit cards at a show or physical event.  Very convenient!  Anyway, thought you might want to know one of the cool new apps out there!

Party Favors: Mismatched Notecards

I love how these party favors turned out for an informal baby shower I did, and all the recipients were really excited to receive.  I bought five different sets of note cards and then mismatched them to make a new set of five matching but different patterned note cards.  These particular note cards came from the Gartner Studios line at Target and were on sale for $1.35 per set!  Talk about a steal.  I see note cards all the time in the $1 section at target and Michael's.

Then I just tied them up with baker's twine and put a cute thank you tag on it.  These party favors are a good non-food gift and would be perfect for a bridal shower also.

Happy Weekend: Boston

Last week my kids had no school because it was winter break.  Somewhere warm and tropical was where I was hoping we'd be for the week, but instead we ended up in Boston--which is about 10 degrees colder than where I am.  We still had a really fun time.  We covered most of the Freedom Trail, which is historic and patriotic and makes me appreciate the country's founding fathers.  Boston has an amazing, modern four-floor children's museum.  My kids were in heaven.  If you have kids and are visiting Boston, the children's musuem is a must.  We stayed at the Omni Parker Hotel, which is very historic and where the boston cream pie was invented.  Yes, we tried the original--it was good.  My favorite site I saw on the Freedom Trail?  The USS Constitution.
